Electric Charge- A property of matter.

Electric Field- The space around a particle through which an electric charge can exert its force.

Static Charge- A build-up of electric charge in an object caused by the separation of charged particles.

Induction- The build up of a charge without direct contact.

Electric Potential- The amount of potential energy a static charge has per unit.

Volt- The unit of measure for electric potential.

Conductor- A material that allows an electric charge to pass through it easily.

Insulator- A material that does not easily allow a charge to pass through it.

Resistance- The property of a material that determines how easily a charge can move through it.

Ohm- Unit used to measure electrical resistance.

Grounding- Safety procedure that gives an electrical device a harmless, low resistance path for electricity to follow.

Electric Current- Another name for an electric charge.

Ampere- The standard unit of measure of current.

Ohm’s Law- The mathematical relationship expressed in the formula Current = voltage / resistance or I = V / R.

Electric Cell- Type of cell that produces electric current using the physical properties of different materials.
